This past week, I had the chance to attend the AuDBoss Conference in Austin, Texas. It was such an inspiring event filled with learning, sharing, and connecting with

others who care deeply about helping people hear better. I came back with new ideas and energy to keep serving patients in the best way possible.

While I was there, I was reminded of how important it is for families and friends to notice the early signs of hearing loss. Catching it early can make a big difference in someone’s quality of life.

How to Spot Signs of Hearing Loss

If you have a loved one, here are some things to look out for:

  • Turning up the TV or radio louder than others prefer.
  • Asking “What?” or “Can you repeat that?” often during conversations.
  • Having trouble hearing in noisy places, like restaurants or family gatherings.
  • Withdrawing from conversations because it’s too hard to keep up.
  • Saying people “mumble” or that voices don’t sound clear.
  • Not hearing soft sounds, like birds chirping or the microwave beeping.

These signs may seem small at first, but they add up over time. If you notice them in yourself or someone you love, it may be time for a hearing check.

Why It Matters

Hearing loss doesn’t just affect ears—it affects relationships, confidence, and overall health. The good news is there are many tools and hearing aids today that can make a huge difference.

I’m so thankful for the chance to keep learning at events like the AuDBoss Conference. Being around others who care so much about hearing health makes me excited to keep sharing knowledge and helping families.
